The 2017 MALT Teacher of the Year, who is also the nominee for PNCFL Teacher of the Year is Erika Shupe! For those of you who have not met Erika, she is a Latin teacher at Bozeman High School and for Montana Digital Academy, as well as our MALT Treasurer. She is extremely deserving of this award and we are proud to have her representing our state.
Debbie Kelley is our 2017 winner of the Outstanding Contributions Award at our state level as well as the regional level! Debbie has been a MALT member for many years and has helped shape MALT and language teaching in Montana to become what it is today. She is very deserving of this award and we are proud to call her one of our own.
Megan Hambrick is MALT's nominee to attend ACTFL's 2017 Leadership Initiative for Language Learning summer institute in Skokie, IL! Megan is a French teacher at Bozeman High School. MALT is proud to sponsor Megan in conjunction with EF Tours! "Is this something students would want to talk about? This is the question that drives me as I design units and lessons that leverage culture to engage language learners in the French program at Bozeman High. I am just wrapping up my fifth amazing and challenging (when does it get easier?! Je rigole…) year in this awesome career and I have, yet again, learned so much! Speaking of learning, I am not only passionate that I challenge the learners in my classroom, but that I am always challenging myself to learn too. So, a few years ago, I completed my Master's with an emphasis on teacher leadership and student voice and choice in the classroom, and I am currently courting ideas for my doctoral thesis in educational leadership that I am completing online through the University of New England. Anyhow, looking forward to collaborating with you all to make language learning the best it can be!"
